The Role
As a Property Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management of our property portfolio. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing supplier payments, administering property accounting functions, and overseeing block management accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, review and process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Code and enter invoices into the accounting system, allocating costs to the appropriate accounts and cost centres.
- Update daily banking transactions within the cashbook and accounting software.
- Process purchase-related financial data accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and manage payment runs in line with agreed payment terms and schedules.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with internal departments and suppliers.
- Maintain accurate supplier records, including contact details and payment terms.
- Respond to supplier queries and resolve payment-related issues professionally.
- Assist with month-end processes, including bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Support audit and compliance requirements by providing relevant documentation and financial information.
- Set up and maintain client, property, unit and tenant records.
- Administer rent schedules, rent reviews, lease information and tenant charge updates.
- Process tenancy terminations, lease assignments and new tenancy agreements.
- Generate and issue rent demands within required timescales.
- Manage block management accounts from preparation through to completion.
- Undertake general administrative duties, including filing, archiving and document management.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a property management accounting environment and possess strong organisational and communication skills.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an accounting, finance or property management accounting role.
- Experience managing property or block management accounts.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations and financial administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience using property management software such as Tramps and/or Bluebox.
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
