We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Education Welfare Service to start as soon as possible.
The main focus of the role is to work in partnership with schools, pupils and their families to reduce absenteeism and to resolve welfare issues so that all statutory school aged children maximise their educational potential through regular school attendance whilst providing professional guidance on legislation and other regulations concerning the service and also work with schools and partner agencies to implement strategies to prevent problems within the context of relevant legislation and key Government Agendas relating to Social Inclusion and Safeguarding.
As the successful candidate it is essential that you have a formal qualification in teaching, social care, youth work or similar relevant qualification or 3 years relevant experience in an associated field. Experience of working with children and young people and their families, a range of agencies as well as experience of working in an education or social work setting is essential.
You must be able to demonstrate that you will have the ability to understand the individual needs of children and young people, their families and schools, as well as how best to meet those needs within the Local Authority’s policies
