Pet Shop Receptionist / Retail Assistant
We are looking for a friendly and reliable receptionist to support the daily running of our pet shop. The role includes customer service, appointment management, product sales and general shop operations.
Main Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and their pets;
- Answer telephone calls and respond to customer enquiries;
- Book, confirm and reschedule grooming appointments;
- Introduce and sell pet products;
- Process payments using the till and booking systems;
- Carry out stock checks, replenish shelves and check prices;
- Keep the reception, retail displays, waiting area and shared spaces clean and tidy;
- Complete daily opening and closing checks;
- Assist with customer feedback and general after-sales enquiries;
- Work closely with groomers and other team members.
Requirements
- Friendly, patient and comfortable around pets;
- Good spoken and written English;
- Strong attention to detail when handling bookings, payments and customer information;
- Reliable, responsible and able to work independently;
- Basic computer skills and confidence using till or booking systems;
- Able to prioritise tasks in a busy shop environment;
- Flexible with shift patterns, including some weekends and bank holidays;
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
Previous experience in retail, reception, customer service, a pet shop or a grooming salon is preferred but not essential. Relevant training will be provided.
Pay and Benefits
- Basic pay: £13 per hour;
- Monthly performance bonus of up to £200;
