Looking for a volunteering role that gets you out and about across Glasgow, meets great people, and directly supports a vital local cause?
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice charity shops raise essential funds to support hospice care for patients and families across the city. We’re looking for friendly, reliable Volunteer Retail Drivers & Stock Support Volunteers to help keep our retail operations running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a practical, active role where you’ll support the movement of donated stock between our warehouse and hospice shops across the Glasgow area. You’ll work closely with shop managers and the retail team to ensure shops are well stocked and ready for customers.
Some days you’ll be working alongside others, and other times you may be working independently — no two shifts are the same.
What you’ll be doing
- Driving between our warehouse and hospice shops across Glasgow
- Delivering and collecting donated stock between shop locations
- Assisting with the movement of donations, including bags and small furniture items
- Helping deliver or collect small furniture items to and from customers’ homes
- Supporting shop managers with stock distribution and logistics
What we’re looking for
- The willingness to donate your time (unpaid) to support a great cause
- A full, valid UK driving licence
- Confidence driving around Glasgow
- Comfortable lifting and carrying donation bags and items
- Happy working both independently and as part of a team
- Friendly and reliable
No previous experience is needed—just a positive attitude and a willingness to help. You’ll be making a real difference, meeting new people, and supporting hospice care in your local community.
Support You’ll Receive
- A warm welcome and introduction to the hospice retail operation
- Role guidance and ongoing support from shop/retail staff
- Training and support around safe working practices (including manual handling where required)
- Clear instructions for collections/deliveries and who to contact during shifts
- A chance to build confidence and skills in a supportive team environment
Commitment & Timing
- Volunteering is flexible and can be arranged to suit your availability
- Shifts are typically agreed in advance with the retail team
- Regular weekly or fortnightly support is welcomed, but this can be discussed
(Exact days/times may vary depending on shop needs, stock movements and planned collections.)
