Rotherham Community Transport provides a range of transport services for older and disabled people who have difficulty using public transport. We also work on behalf of a number of community and statutory organisations providing transport to help reduce social isolation and loneliness among our service users, this enables them to attend events or participate in activities as well as access essential services. We also provide minibus hire for not-for-profit organisations such as charities and community groups.
As well as driving, this role is a hands on caring role where duties include assisting passengers on and off vehicles safely, securing wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids. Our drivers will ensure a professional, safe and enjoyable journey for all our passengers.
RCT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and therefore welcome applications from candidates who feel they have the necessary background skills/experience to fulfill this role correctly. Candidates must have a interest in working with vulnerable children and adults and be honest with high integrity and good communication skills. The successful candidate will need to be able to work flexibly, understanding that due to the nature of our work they must be able to adapt to changes at short notice.
The successful applicants will be required to follow various company procedures including health and safety and child protection. A enhanced DBS will be required before employment can be commenced. The applicant must hold a Full driving licence class B with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
If the successful candidate is interested, we will offer to provide training to allow them to obtain class D1 entitlement on their driving licence.
