Job title: Personal Care Assistant (AAT)

To provide compassionate 1:1 support to a 6-year-old boy with Global Developmental Delay, epilepsy, and complex sensory needs, enabling him to safely access daily activities, community outings, and sensory play. The role focuses on promoting his wellbeing, independence, communication, and social engagement while ensuring his safety through close supervision, supporting feeding and personal care needs, and providing valuable respite for his family.
The employer is a family seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to provide support for their young child within the home and community. The family lives in a two-bedroom home and provides a supportive and collaborative working environment, with a parent typically available during the initial stages of employment to assist with induction and ensure a smooth transition into the role.

The role is intended to provide both practical support for the child and respite for the family.
Social duties:
- Provide safe, attentive 1:1 support to a young child at home and in the community.
- Ensure the child's wellbeing through appropriate supervision and support with daily activities.
- Plan and participate in engaging, age-appropriate play and sensory-based activities.
- Support the child to develop independence, confidence, communication, and social interaction skills.
- Assist with eating, drinking, and personal care routines as required.
- Accompany and support the child to access community-based activities and recreational opportunities, including swimming and other leisure pursuits.
- Prepare simple snacks and drinks in line with parental guidance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment to promote the child's safety and wellbeing.
- Follow agreed care plans, risk assessments, and family guidance at all times.
- Build and maintain a positive, trusting relationship with the child and their family.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding the child's activities, wellbeing, and any concerns.
- Respect confidentiality and handle all personal information in accordance with data protection and privacy requirements.
Personal care:
Support with personal care when required.

Hours of work: 6 hours per weekend.
Rate of pay: £14.00 per hour
Desirable:
- Experience supporting children with developmental, communication, sensory, or additional support needs.
- Knowledge of person-centred support approaches.
- Experience planning and delivering engaging sensory, creative, or play-based activities.
- Awareness of health conditions that may affect a child's safety and participation in daily activities.
- Experience supporting children in community settings and during leisure activities.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies.
- Basic understanding of risk assessment and safe working practices.
- Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care, Childcare, Education, or a related field.
- First Aid training (or willingness to undertake training).
- Experience working as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, or similar role.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
