Salary: Business & Teaching Support Scale 4, £20,535 – £21,350 per annum (actual salary)
Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover), Term time only (38 weeks).
Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role

As an Attendance and Pastoral Support Officer, you will be at the heart of student support, using attendance monitoring, early intervention and pastoral care to improve learner engagement, wellbeing and achievement. This post is offered on a fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and improve student attendance and punctuality, acting as the first point of contact for attendance-related concerns and implementing strategies to increase engagement.
- Provide targeted pastoral support and interventions for learners facing wellbeing, attendance, or additional learning challenges, including one-to-one and small group support.
- Establish and maintain communication with students, parents/carers, and staff to address attendance issues, arrange review meetings, and implement support plans.
- Maintain accurate student records and produce attendance reports, ensuring interventions, outcomes, enrolments, transfers, and learner data are recorded effectively.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to identify students at risk, remove barriers to learning, and promote academic progress, wellbeing, and achievement.

Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Business Administration or a relevant subject, with qualifications in Microsoft Office.
- Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in supporting students with learning difficulties/care, or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timescale.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Commitment to ongoing CPD and mandatory training.
- First Aid and Risk Assessment qualifications – Desirable.
Experience
- Experience providing administration support within a busy environment.
- Experience supporting young people, including those with additional needs.
- Experience managing attendance and implementing improvement strategies.
- Experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including staff, students and parents/carers.
- Experience within an educational setting – Desirable.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and manage competing priorities.
- High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications (Pro-Solution and ProMonitor desirable).
- Understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to support student engagement and achievement.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and student welfare.
