About Kustom Design
Kustom Design is a growing kitchen, bedroom and bespoke furniture manufacturer based in Washington, Tyne & Wear.
We manufacture everything from kitchens and bedrooms to wardrobes, media units and one-off bespoke cabinetry, using modern CNC manufacturing alongside Cabinet Vision.
We are looking for an experienced CAD Engineer / Cabinet Vision Engineer to join our team and play an important role between design, technical engineering and production.
This isn't simply a drawing role. We need someone who understands how cabinetry is actually manufactured and can turn designs and specifications into accurate, production-ready information for the factory.
The Role
You will take projects from design/specification through Cabinet Vision and prepare them correctly for manufacture.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing accurate, production-ready jobs in Cabinet Vision
- Engineering kitchens, bedrooms, wardrobes and bespoke cabinetry
- Checking cabinet construction, dimensions, materials, finishes and hardware
- Producing and checking cutting lists, material requirements and CNC/manufacturing information
- Identifying potential problems before they reach the factory
- Working closely with our office and production teams to resolve technical queries
- Optimising designs for efficient manufacture without compromising the required design
- Assisting with bespoke units and non-standard construction
- Maintaining accurate job and technical information
- Helping us continually improve our Cabinet Vision libraries, manufacturing standards and processes
- Contributing to the continued development of our digital manufacturing and automation systems
About You
Ideally, you will already have experience using Cabinet Vision within a kitchen, bedroom, furniture or cabinetry manufacturing environment.
However, we are also interested in hearing from experienced kitchen/furniture CAD or manufacturing engineers with strong technical knowledge who may have worked with similar CAD/CAM systems.
You should have:
- Strong knowledge of kitchen, bedroom or cabinet construction
- Cabinet Vision experience, or strong experience with comparable manufacturing CAD/CAM software
- A good understanding of CNC manufacturing
- An understanding of sheet materials, edging, hardware and fittings
- The ability to interpret plans, drawings and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good practical problem-solving ability
- The ability to identify manufacturing problems before production
- The confidence to work closely with both office and factory teams
- An interest in improving systems and manufacturing processes
Experience with bespoke or high-end cabinetry would be particularly valuable.
