What We're Looking For
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and experience. To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Essential:
- Construction-related qualification (BSc, HNC/HND or equivalent experience considered)
- GCSE or equivalent Grade 4 (C) or above in English Language, Literacy and Numeracy
- Proven and recent experience within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction processes
- Experience in commercial or design and build projects
- Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Practices and CDM Regulations
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical information
- Strong leadership, organisation, and coordination skills
- A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused approach aligned with our values of Building, Sharing, and Caring
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence using IT systems (Microsoft Office and project tools)
- Full UK driving licence (minimum 6 months post-test experience)

Job Description
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of Cambridge Office, the Project Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of construction, refurbishment and CAT A and CAT B fit-out projects across a range of sectors.
Taking ownership from pre-construction through to completion and handover, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are planned, co-ordinated and delivered in line with client expectations, programme, budget and quality requirements.
Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, you will manage all aspects of project delivery, including programme management, procurement, commercial awareness, risk management and stakeholders’ communication.
As the key point of contact for your projects, you will build strong relationships with clients and project teams, providing clear leadership and maintaining a collaborative approach to achieve successful outcomes. You will also identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and manage change effectively.
You will be responsible for delivering projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, ensuring they meet programme, budget, quality and client expectations while reflecting the standards of the business.
This is a key supporting role within the team, contributing to strong communication, collaboration, and a culture built on Building, Sharing, and Caring throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
- Manage projects to ensure they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards, while meeting client expectations and business objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, company policies and procedures and all statutory requirements.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project programmes, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Chair and attend regular project and site meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Prepare contractor's reports, progress updates, project programmes and other project documentation as required.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants and on-site personnel, maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Competently interpret contract documentation, specifications, design information and construction drawings, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the contract.
- Manage specialist, domestic and nominated subcontractors, ensuring performance, quality, programme and compliance standards are achieved.
- Coordinate and oversee site teams, including Site Managers, Supervisors, Assistant Project Managers, Trainee Project Managers and direct trade operatives, providing leadership, support and mentoring where required.
- Monitor project progress, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimise delays and maintain programme.
- Manage project costs, including pricing and agreeing variations and instructions with clients or their representatives.
- Prepare valuations, final accounts and support the commercial team in achieving successful financial outcomes.
- Monitor project profitability and provide regular financial reporting, forecasting and cost control throughout the project.
- Review procurement schedules and ensure long-lead materials and plant are ordered, tracked and delivered in line with programme requirements.
- Review and authorise supplier and subcontractor invoices in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of tenders and estimates, working alongside the Estimating team where required.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement without compromising quality or programme.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, carrying out inspections and ensuring defects are resolved promptly.

Working Hours
This is a Full-time position of 42 hours per week:
- Monday to Thursday: 07:45 – 17:15hrs
Friday: 07:45 – 16:45rs
