Job Summary
Playful Paws Pet Care is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic, part/full-time, pet care professional to join our growing team of sub-contractors of dog walkers and pet sitters. Playful Paws Pet Care is a trusted name in delivering professional pet care services in Wheathampstead, Harpenden, St Albans and surrounding villages.
Duties
- Walk dogs on a regular basis and/ or look after pets in the client's home overnight for periods from one night to two weeks (typically)
- Taking dogs on daily walks, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation
- Feeding pets according to specific instructions provided by owners
- Administering medication or special treatments as required
- Providing companionship and playtime to pets in your care
- Monitoring pet behaviour and reporting any concerns or health issues to owners or management
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment during pet visits
- Managing scheduling appointments efficiently and reliably
- Building strong relationships with clients through consistent, trustworthy service
- Communicate with clients around appointments, pet updates and share photos
Experience
- Previous background in animal care is highly desirable
- Experience in customer service, demonstrating excellent communication skills with pet owners
Requirements
- Passionate about animals with a caring attitude towards their wellbeing
- Physically fit - potentially multiple walks in a day or long walks
- Organised and punctual, capable of managing multiple appointments throughout the day
- Driving licence essential
- Will need to complete DBS check and pet first aid course
What is a sub-contractor?
As a part-time sub-contractor, you can determine what type of work you do, how many hours you work per week and when you work. That of course is subject to demand and requirements from clients. There isn’t a minimum guaranteed number of hours.

Please note that you will be self-employed and not an employee of Playful Paws Pet Care and as such you will be responsible for your own taxes.
