We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and experienced Domestic Electrician to join our growing team. The role will involve a wide range of domestic electrical work, including rewires, consumer unit/fuse board upgrades, fault finding, testing, remedial works and general electrical installations both residential and comercial.
Commercial electrical experience would also be highly desirable, but not essential.

Work Location
The role will be primarily mobile, covering Basingstoke, Reading, Farnborough, Bracknell and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out domestic electrical installations, alterations and repairs.
- Undertake full and partial domestic rewires.
- Carry out consumer unit/fuse board upgrades and replacements.
- Complete electrical testing, inspection and certification.
- Fault find and diagnose electrical issues.
- Carry out remedial electrical works.
- Install lighting, sockets, switches and other electrical accessories.
- Install and alter domestic circuits.
- Carry out electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Complete EICRs and other electrical inspection and testing where qualified and required.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with current regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Complete electrical certification accurately and maintain records of completed work.
- Work safely and professionally in customers’ homes.
- Communicate professionally with customers and provide a high standard of workmanship.
- Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicle to a high standard.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Typical Domestic Electrical Work
The successful candidate will be expected to have solid practical experience across a broad range of domestic electrical work, including:
- Full and partial rewires.
- Fuse board / consumer unit upgrades and replacements.
- EICRs and electrical inspection and testing.
- Fault finding and repairs.
- Lighting installations and alterations.
- Socket installations and alterations.
- New circuits.
- Kitchen and bathroom electrical installations.
- External lighting and power.
- Remedial works.
- Electrical alterations and additions.
- General domestic electrical maintenance.
- Installation and replacement of electrical accessories.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults.
Commercial Experience
Commercial electrical experience is desirable but not essential.
Experience working on commercial properties, including commercial installations, maintenance, fault finding, testing, lighting, distribution boards and associated electrical systems, would be an advantage.
There may be opportunities to undertake a mixture of domestic and commercial electrical work depending on the company’s workload.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment or an equivalent recognised Level 3 electrical qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) – current edition.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified electrician.
- Strong practical experience in domestic electrical installations.
- Experience carrying out rewires, consumer unit/fuse board upgrades, fault finding and general electrical work.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good understanding of current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage jobs professionally.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- A professional approach and high standard of workmanship.
Inspection & Testing
2391-52 Inspection & Testing qualification is desirable but not essential.
We are willing to support the right candidate with further training and qualifications where appropriate.
Candidates must have a good practical understanding of electrical testing and inspection and be competent to carry out the testing required for their role.
Experience
We are looking for an electrician with at least 5 years’ experience as a qualified electrician, with strong practical domestic experience.
You should be confident working independently on a range of domestic electrical jobs and have experience with:
- Rewires.
- Consumer unit/fuse board upgrades.
- Testing and inspection.
- Fault finding.
- Electrical installations and alterations.
- Remedial works.
- General domestic electrical work.
Commercial experience would be a significant advantage.
