Job Description:
Ensure placements are meaningful and increase future chances of work. Work within the Employer Engagement Team in conjunction with the other teams that sit within the wider Working Denbighshire Framework towards the development, implementation and ongoing operations, complementing and not duplicating existing provision, providing a continuum of support and progression routes enabling the participant to make positive steps towards employment.
Responsible for supporting an allocated caseload of participants (aged 16 and over) to develop new skills that will help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Placement. Placement Support Officers will require a variety of techniques, including individual coaching and personal support building on positive relationships and developing effective processes to identify and overcome barriers.
Responsible forhelping participants to realise andimprove their existing skills, providing opportunities to try new tasks, identification of learning and development needs and opportunities, and long term employability skills such as CV development, mentoring, and interview techniques.
Responsible forexploring what's important to the individual during their placement and developing a strength-based personal profile and outcome focused goals and actions using the tools and systems provided. Support the individual to achieve their goals during their placement and encourage them to achieve their goals by taking responsibility for their own engagement and development.
Complete risk assessments andrisk management plansas appropriate in collaboration with other employability projects that sit within the Working Denbighshire Framework.
Carry out formal reviews which focus on the participant; listen to and understand their thoughts, needs andaspirations and provide them with dedicated time and resources to focus on this. Each review will be used to identify areas of concern and opportunities to learn.Review progress against each goal using the systems provided and support and capture ongoing reflection on progress and/or barriers to progress and the development of skills in the workplace.
Provide casestudies to promotethe impact of the programme of support provided.
The Placement Officer will maintain contact with the employer to ensure that the placement is successful and that any issues are resolved providing help and adviceas required by the employer. They will workclosely with theEmployment Coordinators to gainsupport available to keep participants in sustained employment and look for long term employment including career advice so that participants are enabled to carry out job search independently (sustainable skills) to help them secure longer term employment at the end of their placement.

find sustainable employment should theirplacement not resultin employment.
Provide regular performance management information, reports and other monitoring requirements usingthe tools andsystems provided to ensure WorkingDenbighshire has the data required to report to the Corporate Board.
Follow prescribed filing and dataaccuracy to ensurethe confidentiality of participant information is effectively protected and handled, within locally agreed Information Sharing Protocols and a robust audit trail for internal and external review maintaining participants' files and data (paper and database) and provide regular progress reports to the line manager.
Work within the provisions of DCC policies ensuring full compliance with financial regulations, including abiding by and implementing DCC Equal Opportunities policy, Health and Safety regulations, all Lone Working and Safeguarding procedures in all aspects of project delivery.
Carry out other tasksand responsibilities of a similarnature as determined from time to time by the manager in relation to the smooth running of the service including providing temporary cover as necessary and appropriate

Requirements:
The post holder musthave an understanding of how poverty and social disadvantage impact upon people's lives and the ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide range of participants who are likely to be referred to this project. This will include hard to reach citizens withmultiple/complex needs whoare in needof intensive helpand support regarding the pursuit of training and employment.
Experience of providing support and mentoring either in an employment based or similar intensive support service ensuring all activities operate in accordance with Equal Opportunities.
Experience of working with citizens who are experiencing poverty and barriers to employment. The post holder will be non-judgemental and demonstrate empathy, understanding and confidentiality.
Experience of strengths based assessment and development of action plans and their implementation for citizens.
Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private agencies and an understanding of working withinconfidentiality and data protection policies and regulation.
An understanding of performance management and monitoring processes.
Ability to work well as part of a team providing support to a range of services with a flexible approach and able to prioritise workload and work on own initiative.
Must be able to meetchallenges with a positive attitude and be keen to learn and develop new skills and have the ability to motivate and develop others, doing with rather than for.
