PMLD Teaching Assistant
Sense Education are looking for a truly caring and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Bury, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
This is a role for someone who understands that being a Teaching Assistant is about so much more than helping with learning. It’s about seeing the child first, protecting their dignity, celebrating their individuality and making sure they experience joy, connection and achievement every single day.
About the role
You’ll be supporting children with complex and significant needs, helping them to feel safe, valued and understood throughout the school day. Your role could include sensory activities, supporting communication and interaction, encouraging independence, assisting with personal care and simply being a familiar, reassuring presence.
The little moments matter – a smile, a new sound, a moment of engagement or a child making a choice independently. You’ll be someone who notices and celebrates these achievements, helping pupils explore and develop at their own pace in a nurturing environment.

You may already have experience working with PMLD, complex needs or within a specialist setting, but we’re also interested in people who have relevant experience in care, support work or other environments where patience, compassion and dignity have been essential.

· Believes every child deserves dignity, respect and kindness
· Is passionate about helping children experience joy and fulfilment
· Understands that progress can look different for every child
· Enjoys sensory, creative and play-based activities
· Is reliable, warm and emotionally resilient
