Title: Part Time Charity Finance Officer
Salary: Between £28,000-£31,000 pro rota
Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Working Location: The New Croft, Chalkstone Way, Haverhill, CB9 0BW
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Job Purpose: To manage day-to-day financial operations of the charity, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and supporting effective financial planning and fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and accounting systems.
- Process invoices, payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Support grant applications.
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards.
- Assist with cashflow management and financial planning.
- Support with finance related queries from staff, trustees, and funders.
- Monitor and control outstanding debt.
- Coordinate charity fundraising initiatives.
Person Specification
Key Skills and Experience Required – Mandatory
- AAT Qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
- Experience in bookkeeping.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Strong IT Skills including Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Key Skills and Experience Required - Desirable
- Experience of preparing grant applications.
- Knowledge of Gift Aid.
- Understanding of Charity Commission requirements.
- Experience of supporting year end independent finance reviews.
