About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Medical Courier Supervisor to oversee a team of approximately 10 medical courier drivers. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a willingness to support operational requirements whenever needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of courier operations, maintaining service standards, supporting the Logistics Manager, and providing route cover during periods of staff absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of approximately 10 medical courier drivers.
- Assist with the daily planning and coordination of courier routes.
- Provide route cover and carry out courier duties when required due to sickness, annual leave, vacancies, or increased workload.
- Support the Logistics Manager in the effective running of the department.
- Monitor driver performance, attendance, and compliance with company policies.
- Conduct driver inductions, training, and ongoing performance support.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed safely, accurately, and within agreed timescales.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, delays, and customer concerns.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and operational documentation.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare, transport, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Promote a positive team culture and high standards of customer service.
- Participate in on-call or out-of-hours support arrangements where required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience working within courier, transport, logistics, healthcare transport, or similar operational environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
