About The Red Lion
The Red Lion is a friendly, busy pub in Newquay, serving great food in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team and help us deliver consistently high-quality, delicious food for our customers.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced chef, or a confident and motivated cook looking to take the next step in their career.
The Role
As a Chef at The Red Lion, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard while working as part of a friendly and hardworking kitchen team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a high standard
- Working efficiently during busy service periods
- Maintaining consistent portion sizes and quality
- Ensuring food is stored, prepared and handled safely
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen
- Helping with stock rotation, ordering and deliveries where required
- Working closely with the front-of-house team to ensure excellent customer service
- Supporting the kitchen team and contributing to a positive working environment
- Following all food safety and health & safety procedures
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about good food and takes pride in their work
- Reliable, hardworking and organised
- Able to remain calm and focused during busy services
- A good team player with a positive attitude
- Confident working independently when required
- Experienced in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a pub, restaurant or similar setting
Relevant chef qualifications are desirable but not essential — attitude, reliability and a passion for producing great food are just as important.
