Key Responsibilities
- Carry out on-site carbon and energy assessments of buildings across the UK.
- Collect and verify gas, electricity and other utility consumption data.
- Inspect heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and other building systems.
- Assess building fabric, insulation and overall energy performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions.
- Assess the suitability of measures such as solar PV, LED lighting, heating upgrades, insulation and renewable technologies.
- Review building waste and resource-management practices.
- Record accurate meter readings, equipment information, photographs and site observations.
- Calculate or support the calculation of building carbon emissions and energy usage.
- Analyse collected data and identify areas of high energy consumption.
- Prepare clear assessment reports with practical recommendations.
- Support clients with Net Zero, decarbonisation and energy-efficiency strategies.
- Explain findings and recommendations to clients in a clear, non-technical manner.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure assessments are completed to the required standards.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- An interest in buildings, energy, sustainability and Net Zero.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data-collection skills.
- Good understanding of energy consumption and carbon emissions.
- Ability to interpret utility bills, meter readings and building information.
- Good communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and data-management systems.
- Ability to work independently while conducting site visits.
- A methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable/required depending on the position.
Previous experience in carbon assessment, energy surveying, building surveying, facilities management, construction, utilities or sustainability would be advantageous. Training may be provided for candidates with the right attitude and transferable skills.
Pay: £35,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Newcastle upon Tyne (Tyne and Wear, North East Region, England)
