JOB PURPOSE
To support the department carrying out responsibilities and providing a high level of technical support in the delivery of curricular and extra-curricular Design Technology, including the preparation and clearing away of materials and equipment for lessons and supporting students in their learning.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To maintain machines.
- To ensure machines comply with Health and Safety regulations.
- To maintain hand tools and equipment.
- To sharpen planes, chisels and drills.
- To assist teachers in lessons.
- To assist A level students with projects.
- To design and make jigs, fixtures for teaching aids.
- To carry out welding and brazing.
- To order materials for lessons.
- To prepare materials for lessons.
- To determine and order consumables for the year.
- To ensure safe storage of materials, eg: wood and metal.
- To keep a check on stock and tools.
- To maintain an up-to-date inventory.
- To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility, including covering lessons, as may be required.
GENERAL
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding, including PREVENT, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Anything else that the Headteacher might reasonably request or is required to ensure the job is completed.
