Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and brushing to meet each pet’s specific needs and owner preferences
- Assess each dog’s coat, skin condition, and temperament to determine appropriate grooming techniques and products
- Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly sanitized after each use
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand their expectations and provide recommendations for ongoing care
- Handle dogs safely and compassionately, especially those with special needs or challenging behaviors
- Assist with animal care duties such as feeding, loading heavy grooming equipment, and managing supplies
- Keep detailed records of grooming services provided and any health concerns observed during appointments
Skills
Level 2 city & guilds qualified
- Proven experience in dog grooming or related animal care fields, with a strong understanding of different breeds and coat types
- Knowledge of animal behavior and the ability to handle dogs safely and confidently
- Excellent customer service skills to build trust and ensure client satisfaction
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling large or heavy dogs or equipment
- Strong attention to detail to deliver high-quality grooming results consistently
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about grooming routines
- Passion for animal welfare combined with a lively, energetic approach to work that fosters a positive environment
