Activities Coordinator: The position of Activities Coordinator is a front-line leadership role, supporting people who draw on care and support to be able to live their lives. As an activities coordinator, your role will involve planning, organising, and delivering engaging, inclusive indoor and outdoor activities for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The role aims to promote independence, wellbeing, social inclusion, and skill development while ensuring a safe, supportive, and person-centred environment across all Alternative Care day opportunities settings.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities
· Planning, coordinating, leading and evaluating a diverse, engaging programme of activities tailored to the interests, needs and goals of people we support by:
o Fostering an environment that encourages participation, empowers individuals to try new things and reflects the values of person-centred support.
o Support staff in delivering creative sessions and model how to adapt activities to varying abilities and preferences.
o Facilitate both indoor and outdoor activities, adapting activities to ensure accessibility for people with a range of physical and learning disabilities
o Encourage participation, confidence and choice in all activities available
o Maintaining accurate records of attendance, participation and progress
o Contributing to care plan reviews and activity evaluations
· Ensuring person-centred support by:
o Supporting the emotional and behavioural needs of clientele
o Working in line with person-centred plans, supporting individuals to achieve personal goals and outcomes.
o Promoting independence, dignity and respect at all times.
o Supporting communication needs, including the use of alternative communication methods where required.
o Working collaboratively with support staff, families and external professionals
o Participating in team meetings, training and continuous professional development
Following the reporting procedure and escalating matters of concern raised by service users, colleagues and family members/guardians/stakeholders
· Managing health, safety and wellbeing by:
o Ensuring all activities are risk assessed accordingly and delivered safely
o Following safeguarding policies and reporting concerns appropriately
o Supporting individuals with mobility needs, personal care (if required) and safe use of equipment
o Monitoring wellbeing and responding appropriately to health, behavioural or emotional needs.
o Leading by example, mentoring, coaching and observing staff in line with employment terms, conditions, and law.
· Promoting community engagement by:
o Building partnerships with community groups, organisations and venues to expand opportunities.
o Liase with community groups, local venues and organisations to create collaborative opportunities and broaden the scope of what’s offered in the Day Opportunities services.
· Attending monthly 1-1 objectives meetings and partaking in supervision and appraisal with the Care Manager
· Delivering visible leadership and support by following Company Values and being a role model, fostering the workforce culture.
Qualifications
Required:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths OR GCSE A*-C English and Maths/GCSE Grade 4 or higher from 2018-present
Working towards:
- Positive behaviour support awareness training
- Mandatory social care training course as per the company’s Training Needs Analysis
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
- Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism: Tier 2 training
