Theative Performing Arts is looking for a warm, dynamic and highly engaging Musical Theatre & Preschool Dance Teacher to join our Saturday teaching team in Streatham.
Established in 2015, Theative is a growing children's dance and performing arts school where we believe excellent training and joyful, creative classes should go hand in hand. We want every child to feel included, inspired and encouraged to achieve their personal best.
We're looking for a teacher who shares that philosophy and wants to genuinely connect with and invest in their students, rather than simply turn up, teach and leave.
This is a regular Saturday position working with children aged 3 to 12 years, with the opportunity to become a long-term member of our team and potentially take on additional teaching as the school grows.

About our preschool dance class
Tinies Core Dance Combo is a 45-minute class for children aged 3 to 4.
Each week includes approximately 25 minutes of our creative Story Time Ballet programme followed by 15 to 20 minutes of either preschool tap or preschool modern/jazz, alternating each week.
You don't need to be a qualified ballet, tap and modern teacher for this position.
What we do need is someone with genuine experience teaching preschool-aged children who understands how young children learn, can communicate at their level and knows how to make early dance training engaging, developmentally appropriate and fun.
A structured preschool curriculum, music, props and example lesson plans are provided.

We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Are a confident and engaging singing and drama teacher
- Have strong experience teaching children across different age groups
- Have experience teaching preschool dance, movement or performing arts
- Understand child development and age-appropriate teaching practice
- Can break songs, scenes, skills and activities down effectively for different ages and abilities
- Have excellent classroom management skills
- Can plan fun, varied, purposeful and progressive lessons
- Are warm and encouraging while maintaining clear expectations
- Are organised, reliable and well prepared
- Take a genuine interest in your students and their individual progress
- Are proactive and comfortable taking ownership of your classes
- Enjoy contributing to a team and want to be invested in the success of the wider school
A formal dance teaching qualification is not essential for this position.
Piano skills would be a lovely bonus, but are absolutely not required.
More than weekly classes
Our teachers play an important part in the wider student experience at Theative.
The role includes:
- Planning and delivering your own engaging lessons using the curriculum guidance provided
- Maintaining accurate class attendance
- Completing a brief end-of-day communication report
- Completing annual student progress reports, with additional admin time paid
- Preparing songs and scenes for performances
- Being available for our annual summer show, date to be confirmed
- Capturing occasional photos and short video clips from classes for the school's social media and marketing
- Communicating professionally and working collaboratively as part of the wider Theative team
There are also opportunities for additional weekday teaching, holiday camps, performances and further musical theatre classes as the school grows.
For the right person, we'd love this to develop into a long-term role within Theative.
