Your mission
Tractebel UK is recruiting for a Contract Manager to provide commercial and contractual leadership across complex engineering and project delivery activities, ensuring that contractual obligations, entitlements, and risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. The role supports tendering, bidding, execution, and close-out phases by administering contracts, managing change control and claims, negotiating contractual amendments, and advising project teams on commercial matters.
Working collaboratively with Clients, Suppliers, Partners, and internal stakeholders across Tractebel entities, the Contract Manager safeguards the company's commercial position, promotes compliance with contractual requirements, and contributes to the successful delivery of projects in terms of cost, schedule, quality, and risk management.
The key responsibilities will include a selection of the following points, depending on your technical experience and the position you take within our team:
- Develops contract documentation, including contract management plans, at all stages of the Project life cycle from tendering, bidding, execution and close out
- Working closely with the Project Manager, manages risk contracts, including governance, risk, performance and financial management
- Maintains accurate contract records inclusive of contract spend, contractor performance, risk and outcomes.
- Monitors and reports on contract performance against KPIs and requirements, identifying and undertaking corrective action.
- Undertakes market research and applies findings to manage and inform contract decisions.
- Validates invoices and reports, and ensures that payment schedules are met.
- Assesses and prepares contract variations and exemption requests, making appropriate decisions based on risk.
- Prepares for and facilitates straightforward contract negotiations.
- Interprets contract requirements, terms and conditions and ensures that all parties understand and deliver on their responsibilities.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Liaises with suppliers and customers to resolve routine contractual issues and escalates more complex issues (dispute, adjudication, arbitration,….) .
- Reviews and evaluates expiring contracts and uses the results to shape future group contractual strategy.
- Applies and advises on processes for exercising extension options, contract expiry and transition management.
- Complies with and applies group and local entities procedures.
- You contribute to the further development of the multidisciplinary competences by indicating areas for improvement and integrating lessons learnt.
- You mentor junior engineers and share your experience and expertise with the team
Depending on the candidate, the role may also include additional responsibilities relating to Export Controls
- Complies with and advises on group contract management and export control policies in relation to the applicable rules/law in the related countries.
- Files and follows the export control licensing demands.
- Monitors and reports on export control licenses
We would love to hear from people with
- Experience in contract development and/or management OR relevant project management
- Experience and knowledge relating to UK Contract models used in the energy and construction sectors, in particular New Engineering Contract (NEC)
- Experience in consortium agreement and management.
- Possession of or progress towards a relevant qualification
- Knowledge of public, nuclear and defence contract policies, issues and strategic directions.
