Duties
- Assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals and refreshments.
Qualifications
- Prepare food in accordance with residents’ dietary requirements, allergies and individual preferences.
- Support the kitchen team with breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes, clean equipment and ensure kitchen areas are kept tidy.
- Follow food safety, HACCP, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
- Check and store food appropriately, following stock rotation principles.
- Report any concerns regarding food safety, equipment or residents’ dietary needs to the appropriate person.
- Work respectfully with residents and staff, promoting a warm and welcoming dining experience.
- Complete any required kitchen records and checks.
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of meal preparation, food safety practices, and kitchen equipment
- Strong interest in culinary arts with a willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting or moving supplies
- Prior experience with food preparation or serving is a plus but not mandatory
