Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to fill a long-term locum /permanent position within our pharmacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical care, ensuring medication safety, and supporting patient well-being.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced pharmacists to contribute to patient care in a dynamic environment, with the flexibility of a locum arrangement. The ideal applicant will possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high standards of practice.
This role will require the pharmacist to work two alternating shifts one week is Monday to Friday at one branch and the next week will be a long week working from 8.30 am to 7.00 pm plus the Saturday from 9 am to 5.30 pm. This rota allows a good work/life balance allowing every other weekend and a short week followed by a long week to gain more income.
Duties
- Dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with legal and organisational guidelines
- Provide comprehensive medication counselling to patients, ensuring understanding of usage and potential side effects
- Monitor patient responses to medication therapy and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimise patient treatment plans
- Maintain meticulous records of prescriptions dispensed and patient interactions
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations and safety protocols
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stock control of pharmaceuticals
- Support patient care initiatives by providing advice on over-the-counter medications and health products
- Participate in clinical audits and quality assurance activities to uphold high standards of pharmacy practice
Experience
- Proven experience as a Pharmacist, preferably within community settings rather than PCT or hospital
- Demonstrated competence in patient care, including medication reconciliation and education to patients
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and record keeping procedures ideally Proscript.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining collaborative relationships with healthcare teams
- Ability to manage a team with clear instructions and leadership
- Ability to view the pharmacy as a financial business and minimise losses.
- A clear awareness of Buisness costs and understanding the need to provide routine services such as NMS, DMS, PF, BP, vaccination services routine and travel vaccines including hepatitis B as the new NHS service
