Job Overview
This is a newly created, dual-focus placement designed to bring fresh energy and expertise into two complementary areas: business and organisational support, and the marketing, promotion, and development of LVRT’s online learning platform.
The post holder will work closely with the CEO and wider team, taking ownership of how we market and grow our e-learning offer, research opportunities to enhance our platform, and ensure our online courses reach the people who need them most. Alongside this, they will provide valued operational and communications support across the wider organisation.
This role is ideally suited to a graduate from a business management, marketing, communications, or digital media background or someone with a combination of these skills and a strong appetite to learn.
Responsibilities
1. E-Learning Marketing & Promotion
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy for LVRT’s online course offer, targeting relevant audiences across rural Scotland and beyond.
- Provide light-touch, occasional support to existing social media activity where helpful, though this is not a core focus of the role.
- Write compelling course descriptions, landing page content, and promotional copy that resonates with a rural learner audience.
- Design and distribute e-newsletters and email campaigns to promote new and existing courses to LVRT’s network.
- Identify and develop partnerships and referral pathways with rural organisations, land-based networks, and community groups to extend course reach.
- Monitor and report on marketing performance, including website traffic, e-newsletter engagement, and course enrolment data, using insights to refine approach.
2. E-Learning Platform Research & Development
- Research emerging trends, tools, and best practice in online and e-learning to support the continued development of LVRT’s platform.
- Evaluate new features, integrations, and third-party tools that could enhance the learner experience or operational efficiency of the LMS.
- Benchmark LVRT’s online course offer against comparable organisations and identify opportunities for improvement or innovation.
- Research learner needs, barriers to access, and digital inclusion considerations relevant to a rural audience, and recommend platform developments accordingly.
- Explore potential for course accreditation, badging, or certification pathways that could add value for learners and increase course uptake.
- Produce clear research summaries and recommendations for the CEO to inform strategic decisions about the platform’s direction.
3. Online Course Development & LMS Management
- Support the build, publication, and ongoing management of LVRT’s online courses using our Learning Management System.
- Work with the CEO and subject matter experts to structure practical rural skills content into accessible, engaging online modules.
- Manage the learner experience within the LMS, including enrolments, course communications, and completion tracking.
- Maintain and update course content to ensure accuracy, quality, and relevance over time.
- Support integration between the LVRT website and LMS, including course listings, landing pages, and enrolment flows.
- Produce clear written guides, training materials, and step-by-step resources so staff across LVRT can confidently use our digital platforms and LMS.
- Deliver short, practical training sessions to build staff confidence and independence in using digital systems, so that knowledge is not held by one person alone.
- Support organisational sustainability by ensuring digital and LMS knowledge is well documented, so staff absence, turnover, or changes in role do not disrupt day-to-day operations.
4. Communications & Digital Content
- Support LVRT’s broader external communications, including website updates, and stakeholder messaging.
- Contribute to the development of case studies, learner stories, and impact content that showcases the value of LVRT’s online offer.
- Draft a range of written content for different audiences including learners, community members, and partners.
- Maintain a consistent and professional digital brand presence across all LVRT channels.
5. Organisational & Business Support
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the CEO and staff team.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of organisational policies, procedures, and templates.
- Support data management, record-keeping, and compliance activities including GDPR as it relates to learner data and online platforms.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, board papers, and evaluation documents.
- Assist with event coordination, volunteer engagement, and community activities as required.
6. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Collect and analyse data on course enrolments, completions, learner feedback, and marketing performance.
- Produce regular progress reports and recommendations for the CEO on the e-learning platform’s growth and impact.
- Contribute to organisational evaluation and learning, sharing insights that improve LVRT’s digital offer over time.
7. Supporting Net Zero & Digital Sustainability
- Support LVRT’s progress towards net zero by helping expand digital and online delivery, reducing the need for travel to deliver training and reach learners across a wide rural area.
- Identify further opportunities to reduce paper-based processes and in-person travel through digital tools and platforms.
- Build lasting organisational capability by ensuring digital skills and knowledge are shared across the staff team, not concentrated in a single role.
Person SpecificationEssential
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in business management, marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.
- Confidence using digital tools, online platforms, and standard business software (e.g. Microsoft 365).
- An analytical and enquiring mind comfortable conducting research and translating findings into practical recommendations.
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload with competing priorities.
- A collaborative team player who is comfortable working in a small, close-knit organisation.

- Willingness to learn new systems and approaches, including LMS platforms and digital course tools.

- Knowledge of GDPR and data protection responsibilities, particularly in relation to online learner data.
- An interest in sustainability, net zero, or using digital tools to reduce environmental impact.
- An interest in or connection to rural Scotland, crofting, or land-based activities (desirable but absolutely not required a full induction will be provided).
