The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive security service to the Trust, therefore, protecting patients, visitors, staff and assets against all acts of crime and other risk.
The Post Holder must hold a full (clean) UK driving license, as the role will include some driving. The post is offered subject to the completion of enhanced DBS vetting and the successful completion of the physical restraint and officer safety training provided.

To patrol either on foot or in a vehicle the areas specified in departmental standard operating procedures. The Post holders must maintaining security awareness and respond and action identified issues appropriately and in accordance with standard operating procedures and policies.
To respond promptly to all calls for security assistance however received and take action to resolve incidents.
To respond to calls for security assistance to deal with visitors who are being verbally or physically abusive, disruptive or committing a crime. Assess the situation and take appropriate action to resolve any situations, taking all relevant factors into consideration
To respond promptly to all fire alarm calls, taking action to resolve alarms as quickly as possible with least disruption. Maintain excellent fire awareness and practices, reporting any identified issues.
To provide an escort service for the movement of cash and valuables, when required.

To assist clinical staff in the prevention of patient absconding or self-harming in line with trust policies and law.
To complete the transport of patients to mental health facilities by driving the departments secure transport vehicle, adhering to all guidelines, policies and law.
To be able and when necessary complete all duties of a Security Support Officer and Front of House Receptionist following all guidelines and practices.
To report all incidents on the trust incident reporting system, maintain the daily occurrence log and personal pocket note book entries.
The post holder will assist and support in the investigation crimes, incidents and complaints, internally and externally. This includes but is not limited to; providing trust management or Police with statements and reports, securing crime scenes, protecting and gathering evidence and attending court when required.
To assists and support where required all internal departments and external agencies, including, but not limited to as Police, Fire, Ambulance and Prison Services.
Offer advice and support to all Whittington Health staff in security related matters.
To assist and maintain Security in all Whittington Health buildings and properties. Attend to any Whittington Health property or building upon rest form security management team.
To support clinical staff by attend all emergency cardiac arrest and trauma call, when they are not in a clinical area. i.e. car park or reception area.
To operate Access Control, Intruder, Fire Alarm, CCTV and any other identified systems
To make basic repairs to security systems i.e. replacement of emergency brake glass and report any faults or issues with security systems to the departments Security Systems Supervisor or Team Leader in his/hers absence.
To report any defects, housekeeping or other problems found in the fabric of the buildings, which may cause a breach of safety to the Facilities Helpdesk.
To maintain checks on critical areas such as roof areas, plant rooms and any other important infrastructure.
Participate in face-to-face handovers at the beginning and end of each working day, ensuing all details and equipment are handed over to the next shift.
To support the Site Manager in all facilities related issues during the out of hour’s periods. Assisting in solving problems where possible and providing advice and information to the Facilities or Estates on call managers or technician.
Assist in gritting and snow clearance duties before and during adverse weather conditions
The post holder will responsibility for their own training and continuing professional development and will attend all training sessions as arranged through the Security Management Team.
It is the post holder’s reasonability to ensure that their mandatory training and e-learning is current and up to date.
To take part and successfully complete and pass as a competent person in Emergency and Major incident training. This includes, but is not limited to lift evacuation, horizontal evacuation, advanced firefighting and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN).
Due to the role requiring the post holder to use and wear breathing apparatus, the post holder must be able to be clean shaven for certification, recertification of the apparatus and during times when the equipment will be required for operational duties
To ensure the security control room, gatehouse and any other area you are requested to work in for operational reasons is kept clean and tidy and in an orderly state.
To provide a confidential and discreet service to all service users at all times.
While the post holder remains an employee of the NHS, the Trust reserves the right in the event of a critical/major incident to recall you to carry out front line duties
To perform any such duties which, although not detailed here are matters relating to security, safety or other services provided by the facilities directorate.
