The Role
The purpose of the Paralegal role is to provide Clients, Solicitors and Legal Executives with an excellent level of support whilst working compliantly and within best practice. It is therefore an ideal role to develop a career within the firm and the Legal Services profession. The key duties of the role are included in the Job Description, but in summary the role requires you to:
· Prepare compliance for Solicitors or Legal Executives to review and approve. What does this mean?
· Complete legal tasks to progress client matters, e.g. drafting letters and statements for Solicitor approval.
· Communicate with clients and third parties via email, phone calls and meetings, both in person and on-line.
· Assist with the management of matter finances, such as drafting invoices or completing posting slips, and liaising with the Legal Aid Agency.
This role will be based in our Childcare department.
Candidate Specification
This role is designed to enable you to build a career within the firm and the Legal Services profession. It is therefore open to candidates who have experience with a Legal Service provider and/or a qualification in law. In summary the role requires you to have either or both of the following:
· Two or more years work experience within a Legal Services provider or;
· A law degree (2.2 or higher) or equivalent.
You will also need to have:
· English and Maths GCSE (grade C or higher) or equivalent. I think they are numbered now so this needs to change but I have no idea what to- it goes up to 9 I think
· Competency working with a computer- familiarity with the Microsoft office suite
· Most importantly, you reflect our culture in that you are professional, caring, hardworking, punctual and you have a positive can-do attitude to your work and being part of a team.
· A driving licence and access to a car
Experience with CCMS, LEAP, the HMCTS portal and Lexcel an advantage but training will be given.
