Purpose of the Role
To help the charity establish new relationships with local schools by making introductions, arranging initial meetings, and raising awareness of the charity's work. Once a connection has been made, the ongoing relationship will be handed over to the charity's staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify schools that may be interested in supporting the charity.
- Make initial contact with schools by email, phone, or letter to introduce the charity and obtain the relevant contact details.
- Arrange introductory meetings or presentations where appropriate.
- Promote opportunities for schools to support the charity through fundraising, volunteering, awareness activities, or community projects.
- Represent the charity in a professional and positive manner.
- Keep accurate records of contacts and conversations.
- Pass new school contacts and relevant information to the charity team for ongoing relationship management.
- Work with the charity to ensure a smooth handover of new partnerships.
Skills and Experience
- Friendly, confident, and professional communicator.
- Comfortable speaking with school staff and building rapport.
- Organised and able to keep accurate records.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Basic IT skills, including email and spreadsheets.
- Experience in education is helpful but not essential.
Time Commitment
- Around 2–5 hours per week, with flexibility to suit your availability.
- Some daytime availability may be helpful for contacting schools or attending introductory meetings.
Support and Training
- An induction to the charity and its work.
- Ongoing support from the charity team and a dedicated contact.
- Any relevant safeguarding checks required to attend schools.
- Reimbursement of agreed volunteer expenses where applicable.
