About the Role:
Dumfries is known for its strong community values, heritage, and growing professional services sector. At Brooklyn Academy Global Services Ltd, we bring that same commitment to people development, operational excellence, and long term learning outcomes.
We are looking for a Director of Learning and Development who can lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of our training and development programmes. This is a senior role for someone who understands how to build structured learning pathways, support managers, and help teams perform at a higher standard.
You will work closely with leadership, department heads, and external partners to ensure our people have the skills, confidence, and support they need to succeed. This role is ideal for a strategic learning professional who can combine practical training delivery with strong business planning and people leadership.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Dumfries location offers a professional and supportive working environment with access to local business networks, transport links, and community services. We value a workplace that is organised, respectful, and focused on continuous improvement.
Learning Culture:
We believe employee development is a key part of business growth. You will have the opportunity to shape learning standards, improve training processes, and build programmes that make a measurable difference.
Leadership Influence:
This is not a back office training role. You will work directly with senior management and have input into workforce planning, leadership development, onboarding, compliance training, and performance improvement.
Growth:
You will help build a stronger learning framework for the company while developing your own leadership profile in a growing professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning Strategy Ownership:
Develop and lead the company learning and development strategy, ensuring training plans support business goals, employee growth, and service quality.
Programme Design and Delivery:
Create structured training programmes for onboarding, leadership development, compliance, customer service, operational procedures, and professional skills.
Team and Manager Support:
Coach managers and team leaders on training needs, performance improvement, staff development, and effective communication.
Training Quality Management:
Review existing learning materials, update training content, monitor attendance, gather feedback, and measure the effectiveness of learning programmes.
Stakeholder Management:
Work with senior leaders, department heads, external trainers, and partner organisations to ensure learning priorities are aligned and delivered effectively.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure training records, policies, and development plans are maintained accurately and meet internal standards and any relevant regulatory requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
6 plus years of experience in learning and development, training management, organisational development, HR development, or a related leadership role.
Leadership Background:
At least 2 years of experience leading training projects, managing learning programmes, or supporting managers with staff development.
Programme Management:
Strong ability to plan, organise, deliver, and evaluate learning programmes across different departments or service areas.
Communication Skills:
Confident presenter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex information clearly and adapt your approach to different audiences.
People Focus:
You are supportive, professional, and practical. You understand how to motivate employees, build confidence, and improve performance through structured development.
Mindset:
You are strategic but hands on. You can build a long term learning plan while also improving day to day training processes and solving immediate business needs.
Pay: £56,900.00-£85,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- On-site parking
- Private medical insurance
