Gardener/Estate worker Surrey/Hampshire Border
Position comes with a 1-Bed cottage and includes all utility bills
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to support the ongoing maintenance of a small privately owned estate. This is a hands-on role for someone who is hardworking, dependable, physically fit and takes pride in producing a high standard of work. Previous gardening experience is required.
The role will include:
· Lawn mowing, strimming, hedge cutting and general grounds maintenance including fencing
· Care of garden: planting, pruning, weeding, seasonal upkeep
· Planning planting and maintaining a Victorian kitchen garden including fruit trees
· General estate work: clearing paths, managing green waste, small repairs, cleaning outdoor areas, maintaining a well-stocked wood pile
· Assisting with occasional heavier tasks and supporting contractors when
Required
· Keeping tools, machinery and work areas clean and organised and maintained
· Some driving will be required
Some previous gardening experience is required but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn on the job will be taken into account.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a genuine interest in gardening ecology and horticulture
- Be punctual, reliable and be comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
- Must be able to work unsupervised and have good time management
- Must be capable of making own risk assessments and ensuring that Health and Safety requirements are met
- Hold a full clean UK driving licence
- Have experience using garden machinery including a chain saw.
