Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to join our Holiday Club team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for children and staff, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant environment, delivering enjoyable dining experiences during our funded holiday programme. The ideal applicant will have relevant culinary experience, a passion for food preparation, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals suitable for children, following specified menus and dietary requirements
- Assist in planning weekly menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area before, during, and after service
- Serve meals efficiently while ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing
- Follow all health and safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver a smooth dining experience during busy periods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a restaurant or catering environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in meal preparation for groups or children is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Previous serving experience is advantageous but not essential
- A positive attitude, reliability, and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic holiday setting
