Branch Assistant – Nairn

We're looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Branch Assistant to join our team in Nairn.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. From serving customers at the trade counter and processing orders to receiving deliveries, maintaining stock and making local deliveries, you'll play an important part in the day-to-day success of the branch.
What you'll be doingCustomer Service
- Providing a knowledgeable, friendly and dependable service to trade and retail customers.
- Building strong relationships by understanding customers' needs and recommending the right products.
- Preparing quotations and helping secure repeat business.
- Processing customer orders and payments accurately and efficiently.
- Looking for opportunities to improve the customer experience and support branch sales.
Warehouse & Stock
- Receiving, checking and safely storing deliveries.
- Reporting any delivery discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Maintaining accurate stock levels and notifying management of low stock.
- Keeping the warehouse, yard and branch clean, organised and safe at all times.
Deliveries & Vehicle Responsibilities
- Carrying out local deliveries when required.
- Operating the forklift, van or lorry safely and responsibly (where authorised).
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly.
- Following all company policies and Health & Safety procedures.
General Duties
- Liaising with suppliers where required.
- Completing administrative tasks accurately.
- Supporting colleagues across the branch and assisting wherever needed to ensure the smooth running of the business.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is reliable, organised and willing to learn.
- Takes pride in providing excellent service.
- Is happy working in a busy, hands-on environment.
- Can manage manual handling tasks, including occasional heavy lifting.
- Holds a full UK driving licence (preferred/essential if applicable).
- Previous builders' merchant, warehouse or trade counter experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
