We are Smart DCC
Together we're building a greener tomorrow
Connecting every home and business to a single, secure smart meter network is a huge undertaking. So you can imagine the scale – and variety – and opportunities for the people who'll help us do it.
The role
Closing Date: Tuesday 7th April 12pm
Location: Manchester or London (Hybrid – 8 days per month in-office)
Shape the future of Britain's smart energy network. Drive transformation, influence executive decision‑making, and lead the performance narrative of a national critical infrastructure organisation.
We’re looking for an exceptional senior leader to bring coherence, insight, and strategic direction to our growing Data & Analytics function—someone who can translate data into meaningful action, integrate multi‑disciplinary teams, and unlock real business value.
About the DCC
We’re powering Britain’s smarter, greener future. Today. Tomorrow. Together.
Today, we’re building a resilient and sustainable smart energy network that enables national transformation. Curiosity, ambition, and tenacity drive everything we do.
Tomorrow, we see vast opportunities—growth, innovation, and impact. You’ll benefit from always‑on learning, talent programmes, academies, exposure to senior leaders and industry experts, and the chance to contribute to complex, high‑profile projects.
Together, we embrace change, unite around shared purpose, and support one another. We rise to the challenge as one team—within DCC and across the energy ecosystem.
Joining Smart DCC means joining something bigger: a mission‑driven organisation shaping the future of energy and data innovation.
How you will contribute to transforming the smart energy network
In this highly visible leadership role, you will act as the strategic integrator for the Data & Analytics directorate—ensuring our data engineering, platforms, BI, reporting, governance, performance and analytics functions operate as one coordinated system.
Key responsibilities (max 5):
Lead integration across all Data & Analytics disciplines, ensuring alignment of priorities, risks, roadmaps and performance outcomes.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Deputy Director—co‑driving directorate strategy, governance forums, cross‑cutting initiatives, and senior‑level decision‑making.
Own the performance and insight agenda, shaping narratives and reporting that influence senior leaders, regulators, and external stakeholders.
Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, data science and AI by identifying opportunities, ensuring responsible use, and embedding the right capabilities and controls.
Lead major directorate programmes and change activity, promoting cohesive operating models, consistent ways of working, and a high‑performing leadership culture.
What you need to bring
Grounded in the JD and aligned to the hiring manager’s priorities, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Strategic leadership across complex, multi‑disciplinary data or performance functions.
Ability to translate data into narrative—turning performance, analytics and insight into compelling stories that drive real business outcomes.
Experience unlocking value with advanced analytics, data science or AI, focused on tangible impact rather than technical depth alone.
Outstanding stakeholder and change leadership, influencing across senior executives, regulators and cross‑functional teams.
Experience leading or integrating data functions, designing strategies and ensuring cohesive operating models.
(No formal qualifications required; experience and impact matter more.)
(Regulated sector experience beneficial but not essential.)
