Plumbing Technician – Further Education CollegeJob Summary
We are seeking a practical and reliable Plumbing Technician to join a Further Education college, supporting lecturers and students within the college’s Plumbing workshops.
This is a hands-on role where you will help ensure the workshops are prepared, organised and operating safely, while providing practical support to Plumbing lecturers during teaching sessions.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within Plumbing, Building Services or a similar practical trade environment. Previous experience working within education is beneficial but not essential.
An Enhanced DBS is essential for this role.
Duties
- Support Plumbing lecturers during practical workshop sessions
- Prepare tools, equipment and materials ahead of lessons
- Set up Plumbing workshops ready for practical teaching sessions
- Assist students with the safe use of tools and equipment under the direction of lecturers
- Maintain and check Plumbing tools, equipment and workshop facilities
- Report damaged, faulty or unsafe equipment
- Support lecturers with practical demonstrations and workshop activities
- Prepare pipes, fittings, fixtures and other materials required for lessons
- Monitor stock levels of Plumbing materials, tools and consumables
- Assist with ordering, receiving and safely storing workshop materials
- Ensure workshops are kept clean, tidy and organised
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed within the workshops
- Help maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students
- Support the wider Plumbing and Construction department as required
Experience
- Previous experience within Plumbing, Building Services or a similar practical trade environment
- Good practical knowledge of Plumbing tools, equipment, materials and fittings
- Understanding of safe working practices within a Plumbing workshop
- Strong awareness of health and safety
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with lecturers, students and other members of staff
- Reliable, practical and willing to support students and teaching staff
- Previous experience within a college, school or training environment would be advantageous but is not essential
- An Enhanced DBS is essential

Pay: £20.00-£30.00 per hour
