Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Performance Marketing Manager to join us as we scale two growing and exciting online competition brands.
The main focus of the role is simple: make our paid advertising work harder and help us grow profitably.
You’ll take ownership of our paid and organic social activity, with Meta as the main channel initially, and help us decide when and how we expand into other platforms.
We’re not looking for someone who just sits in Ads Manager moving budgets around. We want somebody who understands the commercial side of performance marketing - why an advert works, what creative we need next, where customers are coming from, what we can afford to pay to acquire them and when it makes sense to scale.
You’ll work closely with the founders and have a lot of freedom to shape how the business grows.
Duties
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive performance marketing campaigns across channels such as Meta, Google Ads, social media platforms, and email marketing to maximise ROI.
- Improve our organic social media and grow a community.
- Manage social media accounts by planning content calendars, engaging audiences, and analysing engagement metrics to boost brand awareness.
- Utilise Canva, AI and Photoshop for basic graphic editing needs and create visually appealing assets for campaigns.
- Monitor industry trends in B2B marketing to keep strategies innovative and competitive while demonstrating strong communication skills within the team.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing performance marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels with a focus on B2B markets.
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead projects and coordinate efforts across teams effectively.
- Expertise in Google Ads, Email Marketing, and social media management tools.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data insights into actionable strategies that improve campaign performance.
- Exceptional communication skills in English with the ability to craft persuasive copywriting tailored for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with time management capabilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
What you’ll actually be doing
Most of your time will be spent running and improving our paid social campaigns. That includes launching campaigns, testing new ideas, analysing performance, scaling winners and cutting what isn’t working.
Creative is a big part of the role. We produce a lot of product, video and founder-led content, and we want someone who can turn performance data into clear creative direction - what hooks we should test, what videos we need, what angles are working and what we should make more of.
Outside of paid advertising, we’d like you to get involved in the wider marketing of the businesses. That could mean helping with email campaigns, improving our organic social output, supporting influencer activity, looking at landing pages or spotting opportunities we haven’t thought of yet.
This is a small, ambitious business, so there will naturally be some variety. We want somebody who enjoys that rather than someone who wants to stay inside a very narrow agency-style remit.
Who we’re looking for
You should already have strong hands-on experience running Meta Ads and be able to show real examples of campaigns you’ve managed and the results you’ve achieved.
We care much more about commercial results than job titles.
You should be comfortable talking about customer acquisition cost, ROAS, margins, creative performance and scaling spend, and be able to explain what you personally did to improve an account rather than simply saying you “worked on” a successful brand.
Experience in ecommerce, DTC or another fast-moving consumer business would be ideal.
TikTok Ads, email marketing, influencer marketing and creative strategy experience would all be useful, but they’re not essential if your paid social background is strong.
An interest in fitness, running, HYROX, CrossFit, cycling or sport generally would be a big plus, particularly for Performance Prizes, but it isn’t a requirement.
About the businesses
Performance Prizes is an online competition brand focused around fitness, sport and performance products, with prizes ranging from Garmin watches and running equipment through to home gyms, bikes and larger fitness packages.
We’re also building PrizeRush, a separate competition brand with a broader, faster-paced model.
Both businesses are still at an early stage, which means this role has far more scope than joining a mature marketing department and inheriting a fixed way of doing things.
You’ll be working directly with the founders, seeing the numbers, influencing what we promote and helping decide where we put our marketing budget.
What success looks like
Ultimately, we want someone who helps us acquire more customers profitably.
That means better paid performance, stronger creative testing, clearer reporting and better decisions about where we spend our money.
Just as importantly, we want somebody who takes real ownership of the marketing function and becomes a key part of growing the businesses rather than simply executing tasks handed to them.
This is a hybrid role and we want someone who can be in our Stoke-on-Trent office around 2–3 days each week, so being within a sensible travelling distance is important.
