About Indigo Home & Gift
Indigo Home & Gift is the Wirral's largest independently owned home furnishings and gifts retailers, known for high-quality furniture and exceptional customer service.
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and customer-focused Furniture Delivery Driver to join our team on a temporary two-month contract.
This is a hands-on role delivering furniture directly to customers' homes. You will work as part of our delivery team, ensuring every delivery is carried out safely, professionally and with the high level of service our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive our company delivery vehicle to customers' homes across the local area, with occasional longer-distance deliveries when required.
- Deliver sofas, chairs, tables, beds and other furniture safely into customers' homes.
- Carry and manoeuvre large and heavy items safely, including through doorways, hallways, staircases and other restricted spaces.
- Assemble furniture in customers' homes where required, including fitting legs, connecting modular furniture and carrying out straightforward furniture assembly.
- Position furniture in the customer's chosen room and ensure it is left correctly assembled and presented.
- Take appropriate care when moving furniture through customers' properties to prevent damage to walls, flooring, doors and other belongings.
- Protect furniture appropriately throughout the delivery process and report any damage or issues immediately.
- Check items against delivery paperwork before leaving for each delivery and confirm that the correct goods have been delivered.
- Carry out basic checks of furniture before handing it over to the customer.
- Obtain customer signatures or delivery confirmation where required.
- Provide a friendly, professional and helpful service when dealing with customers in their homes.
- Communicate with the store and delivery team regarding delays, access problems, customer issues or other delivery concerns.
- Deliver and transfer stock between our locations when required.
- Assist with moving furniture onto the shop floor where necessary.
- Keep the delivery vehicle clean, tidy and presentable.
- Carry out basic daily vehicle checks and promptly report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Follow agreed delivery routes and schedules to ensure deliveries are completed efficiently and on time.
- Follow manual handling procedures and all relevant health and safety requirements.
- Wear appropriate PPE and use furniture-moving equipment correctly where required.
- Work effectively as part of a two-person delivery team.

Who Will Be the Perfect Candidate?
We're looking for someone who understands that furniture delivery is about much more than driving a van.
The right person will be reliable, physically capable, careful and excellent with customers. You'll be comfortable handling expensive furniture, working inside customers' homes and taking the extra care needed to ensure every delivery arrives safely and leaves the customer happy.
Our delivery team are often the last people from Indigo Home & Gift that a customer will have contact with, so the impression they leave is extremely important to us. After choosing their furniture and waiting for their order to arrive, the delivery is the final part of the customer's experience with Indigo.
We therefore expect our delivery drivers to be friendly, polite, professional and respectful at all times. Taking care inside a customer's home, communicating clearly, being helpful and leaving the furniture correctly positioned and presented are all essential parts of the role. We want every customer to feel that the service they receive at their front door reflects the same high standards they experienced when buying from us.
Previous furniture delivery experience would be a significant advantage.
