Head of Marketing – B2B Demand Generation
Location: Waterlooville, Hampshire (PO7) – hybrid working available
Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time
Job Type: Permanent
V3 Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Head of Marketing to build and lead their marketing function from the ground up.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior B2B marketing professional with experience within engineering, technical services or the built environment to join a successful and growing business at a pivotal stage of its development.
Our client is an established technical engineering services business with approximately £8m turnover and 20 employees, delivering high-value repair, supply and installation services to customers across London and the South of England.
The business works with clients across sectors including NHS estates, facilities management, defence, water utilities, higher education and the wider built environment and has ambitious plans to grow towards £20m turnover.
They are now looking for a senior marketer who can build a structured, measurable marketing function to support this growth.
About the Role
This is a greenfield Head of Marketing position where you will have genuine ownership of the marketing function.
You'll be responsible for developing the marketing strategy, building a B2B demand-generation engine and generating measurable pipeline from key target accounts.
Initially, this will be a highly hands-on role. You'll be expected to develop the strategy but also get involved in delivering campaigns, content, workflows and automation yourself.
As the function develops, you'll have the opportunity to recruit and lead a small marketing team and take increasing responsibility for the overall marketing function.
You will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with the sales team to ensure marketing activity directly supports commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the company's B2B marketing and demand-generation strategy.
- Turn existing ideal customer profile and target-account work into a practical go-to-market plan.
- Develop targeted campaigns across priority sectors and accounts.
- Build and manage demand-generation activity through HubSpot and marketing automation.
- Develop campaigns, content, email cadences, workflows and lead-nurturing programmes.
- Align marketing closely with the sales team and ensure qualified opportunities are effectively handed over.
- Generate measurable pipeline and demonstrate marketing ROI.
- Own marketing reporting, performance measurement and campaign optimisation.
- Manage external agencies and suppliers where required.
- Coach and develop the existing part-time marketer.
- Build and recruit a small marketing team as the function develops.
- Take increasing ownership of the overall marketing function as the business grows.
About You
We are looking for someone who is both strategic and genuinely hands-on, with a strong understanding of technical B2B markets.
Ideally, your background will be within engineering, technical services, construction, the built environment, facilities management, utilities or another industrial B2B environment.
This is not a traditional consumer, retail or predominantly digital/SaaS marketing role. Our client is specifically looking for someone who understands how to market technical products and services to professional buyers and named accounts, often involving longer and more considered sales cycles.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience at Head of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, B2B Marketing Manager or Demand Generation Manager level.
- A strong background within engineering, industrial, technical services or the built environment.
- Experience marketing to sectors such as engineering, construction, facilities management, utilities, defence, healthcare, education or similar.
- A proven track record of developing B2B demand generation and demonstrating measurable marketing ROI.
- Experience marketing to named accounts and working within longer B2B sales cycles.
- Strong experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms, ideally HubSpot.
- Experience working closely with sales teams and aligning marketing activity with commercial objectives.
- Excellent understanding of customer segmentation, targeting and campaign development.
- A hands-on approach – you're comfortable creating and delivering campaigns rather than simply managing others.
- The ambition and ability to build and lead a marketing function over the long term.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a profitable and ambitious business at an exciting stage of its growth.
You'll have the opportunity to build the marketing function from the ground up, with the strategic foundations already in place and the freedom to develop and implement the marketing strategy.
You'll have:
- Genuine ownership of the marketing function.
- Direct exposure to senior management.
- The opportunity to build and lead a marketing team.
- A clear commercial objective – generating pipeline and supporting business growth.
- Hybrid working.
- Full-time or part-time flexibility, with a minimum commitment of 3 days per week.
- The opportunity to make a significant impact as the business grows from approximately £8m towards £20m turnover.
If you're an experienced B2B marketer with a background in engineering, technical services or the built environment, and you're looking for the opportunity to build something from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
