About the Role
We are a growing eCommerce and distribution business selling across multiple channels, including Amazon, eBay, Shopify, TikTok Shop and Temu.
We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join our team and take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This is a hands-on role covering a broad range of finance activities, including purchase invoices, sales reconciliation, payments, payroll, bank reconciliations, stock-related finance, reporting and cash flow.
You will work closely with the wider team and have visibility across the business, from purchasing and inventory through to sales, cash flow and profitability.
We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and confident working independently, with the ability to identify issues, investigate discrepancies and make sure the numbers are accurate.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Finance
- Manage the day-to-day finance operations of the business
- Process and maintain supplier invoices and purchase transactions
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile sales and payments across multiple eCommerce platforms
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and correctly allocated
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records
Payments & Payroll
- Prepare and manage weekly and monthly payroll
- Manage supplier and other business payments
- Monitor upcoming payment commitments
- Ensure payments are made accurately and on time
- Maintain clear visibility of outgoing cash requirements
Stock & eCommerce Finance
- Reconcile stock information between financial records, operational systems and physical stock
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
- Monitor the financial impact of purchasing, stock movements, sales and returns
- Support Amazon Vendor invoicing and financial reconciliation
- Reconcile marketplace sales, fees, refunds and other transactions
- Work with the wider team to ensure finance and operational records remain aligned
Month-End & Reporting
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly P&L reports and management information
- Review financial performance and investigate significant variances
- Maintain accurate records to support year-end accounts and external accountants
- Provide clear and timely financial information to support business decisions
Cash Flow
- Monitor the company's cash position
- Forecast upcoming payments and expected receipts
- Identify potential cash-flow issues in advance
- Maintain a clear view of the company's short-term financial position
- Provide practical financial information to support purchasing and operational decisions
About You
We are looking for someone who has solid practical finance experience and is comfortable working across a broad range of accounting and finance responsibilities.
You should enjoy being hands-on, taking ownership and solving problems rather than simply processing transactions.
Essential
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts or accounting role
- Good understanding of bookkeeping and financial reconciliations
- Experience managing accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
- Experience with payroll
- Experience with VAT returns
- Experience with cross-border VAT
- Good understanding of P&L and financial reporting
- Experience with bank reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good Excel/spreadsheet skills
- Able to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Confident investigating discrepancies and following issues through to resolution
- Commercial and practical approach to finance
Desirable
- Experience working within eCommerce, retail, distribution or another inventory-based business
- Experience with Xero or another cloud accounting system
- Experience with inventory or stock management systems
- Experience reconciling multiple sales channels or payment providers
- Experience with Amazon Seller or Amazon Vendor
- Experience with systems such as Linnworks, Shopify or similar platforms
- Experience preparing cash-flow forecasts or management accounts
We are more interested in your finance experience and ability to learn than whether you have used a particular software package.
Experience with Xero and Linnworks is advantageous but not essential. If you have strong finance experience and have used other accounting or inventory systems, we would still encourage you to apply.
What We Offer
- £35,000–£38,000 salary, depending on experience
- Full-time, Monday–Friday position
- 5 days per week in our Huntingdon office
