Sales Closer & Client Growth Lead – MBK Early Years
Turn conversations into customers. Turn customers into long-term relationships. Help us build the next stage of MBK.
ABOUT US
We don’t mean to brag, but we’re kind of a big deal in the Early Years sector.
We are MBK Early Years (MBK Training Ltd).
Our mission is simple: to help Early Years owners and leaders achieve exceptional quality with less stress.
We combine deep operational experience, sector insight and practical tools to help nursery businesses become stronger, more sustainable and brilliant places for children, families and teams.
And we aren't consultants who simply tell other people how to run nurseries.
We actually run them.
We are active nursery operators with more than 27 years' experience in the Early Years sector, so what we teach has been tested in the real world.
We bridge education, leadership, compliance and commercial performance, translating complicated challenges into practical solutions through consultancy, training, programmes and tools.
And now we're growing.
We have ambitious plans to take MBK Early Years to its first £1m+ and beyond, reaching more nursery owners and leaders across the country and building a business with significant recurring revenue and long-term client relationships.
To do that, we're building a proper commercial growth engine.
Marketing creates the opportunity.
Our Lead Appointment Setter starts the conversation.
You close it.
And then you help us grow the relationship.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a brilliant Sales Closer & Client Growth Lead.
Someone who loves sales.
Someone who loves people.
Someone who gets a genuine buzz from turning a great conversation into a yes.
And importantly, you won't be spending your day searching for people to call.
We already have that covered.
You'll work as part of a three-person growth team alongside our:
Marketing & Growth Lead – generating interest, enquiries and leads.
Lead Appointment Setter – engaging those leads, qualifying opportunities and getting discovery calls booked into the diary.
Sales Closer & Client Growth Lead – YOU – taking those booked appointments, leading brilliant discovery conversations, recommending the right solution and converting opportunities into paying clients.
That means you can spend more of your time doing what a great salesperson does best:
Talking. Listening. Understanding. Solving. Closing.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Closing Sales
Your diary will contain booked discovery calls with nursery owners and leaders who have already entered the MBK world.
Your job is to take it from there.
You'll lead discovery conversations that get beneath the surface.
What are they trying to achieve?
What's frustrating them?
What's stopping them getting there?
What's the real problem behind the problem they've initially come to us with?
You'll listen, challenge, ask great questions and identify where MBK can genuinely help.
Then you'll confidently recommend the right solution, explain the value, discuss pricing and guide them towards making a decision.
And you'll do something surprisingly many people in sales forget to do.
You'll ask for the sale.
We don't believe in aggressive selling.
We don't believe in pushing someone into buying something they don't need.
But neither do we believe in having a fantastic conversation, sending someone a brochure and hoping they call us back.
We believe in consultative selling with commercial confidence.
Understand the problem.
Match the right solution.
Demonstrate the value.
Handle the objections.
Ask for the decision.
Close the sale.
OWNING YOUR PIPELINE
Not every client will say yes on the first call.
That's where great salespeople stand out.
You'll manage your pipeline through our CRM, follow up opportunities properly and make sure good leads don't disappear because nobody contacted them again.
You'll know:
- what's sitting in your pipeline
- what needs following up
- where each opportunity is in the sales journey
- your conversion rate
- your sales value
- your monthly target
- and what you need to do next to hit it.
You'll be responsible for achieving and exceeding sales targets, with your performance rewarded through uncapped sales commission.
The more value you create for MBK, the greater your opportunity to earn.
CLIENT GROWTH
For us, the sale isn't the end of the relationship.
It's the beginning.
Once someone becomes an MBK client, you'll help make sure their experience continues to be brilliant.
You'll work closely with our consultants and wider team to make sure new clients are onboarded properly and what we've promised gets delivered.
But you'll also stay curious.
What does this client need next?
What other challenges are emerging?
Could additional consultancy help?
Is there another training programme that would support their team?
Would one of our ongoing programmes or services help them achieve their next goal?
You'll proactively build those relationships and identify opportunities for:
renewals, repeat business, additional services and longer-term partnerships.
Because we don't just want customers.
We want clients who stay with MBK because we continually add value to their business.
SALES + LEADS + MARKETING
This is where the role gets particularly exciting.
You won't be working in a sales silo.
You'll be part of a three-person commercial growth team, and each person will influence the success of the others.
Our Marketing & Growth Lead will want to know:
What are prospects talking about?
What problems keep appearing?
What objections are you hearing?
Why are people buying?
Why aren't they buying?
Our Lead Appointment Setter will want to know:
Which leads are converting?
What makes a particularly strong opportunity?
Which conversations should we be prioritising?
And you'll want to know:
Where are the best leads coming from?
Which campaigns are producing buyers?
What can we do to fill your diary with more of the right conversations?
Together, you'll continually improve the journey from:
Attention → Lead → Appointment → Discovery → Sale → Client → Growth
That's the engine we want you to help us build.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR SALES CLOSER & CLIENT GROWTH LEAD
Just to give you a flavour...
08:29 – Arrive, grab a coffee and open the CRM. Your Lead Appointment Setter has booked several discovery calls into your diary and there are two opportunities from yesterday that need following up.
09:01 – Quick growth-team catch-up. Marketing has launched a new campaign, leads are coming in and you share what's converting best from last week's calls.
09:30 – First discovery call. The nursery owner thinks she needs help preparing for Ofsted. Twenty minutes into the conversation you've uncovered that the real issue is an overwhelmed leadership team and inconsistent systems.
That's a very different conversation.
10:15 – Update the CRM, send over what you've promised and agree the next step.
10:30 – Second discovery call.
Great fit.
Great conversation.
You recommend the right programme.
They say:
"It sounds brilliant, but I need to think about it."
You don't panic.
You explore what's holding them back.
11:15 – Follow up two opportunities from earlier in the week.
One isn't ready.
One says yes.
Sale closed.
Still a lovely feeling.
12:30 – Lunch. Properly. Away from the screen.
13:30 – Client growth call with an existing MBK customer. They've achieved what they originally came to us for, but another challenge has emerged. You identify where MBK can support them next.
14:15 – Catch up with one of our Early Years Consultants about a client you've recently brought on board.
14:45 – Another discovery call that's been booked for you by our Lead Appointment Setter.
15:30 – Quick catch-up with Marketing & Growth. You've heard the same objection four times this week. That's useful intelligence, so together you look at how our messaging could address it earlier.
16:00 – Final discovery call of the day.
Right client.
Right solution.
Yes.
16:45 – Update your pipeline, check tomorrow's appointments and numbers.
17:01 – Head home knowing you've helped another nursery owner solve a genuine problem — and helped MBK move another step closer to where we're going.
Every day will be different, and you'll be trusted to take ownership of your diary, pipeline and results.
YOU'LL PROBABLY LOVE THIS JOB IF...
You genuinely love selling.
Not:
"I don't mind sales."
Not:
"I'm quite good with customers."
Not:
"I'd like to have a go at business development."
We want somebody who genuinely enjoys the challenge of turning an opportunity into a yes.
You enjoy having a target.
You like knowing your numbers.
You like seeing your pipeline grow.
You aren't afraid to talk about money.
You can confidently ask somebody to make a decision.
And hearing:
"I need to think about it..."
doesn't mean you immediately close the CRM and hope they'll call you back.
You know there's a difference between being pushy and persistent.
You understand that great sales isn't about talking the wrong person into buying.
It's about helping the right person make a confident decision.
You're naturally curious.
You ask brilliant questions.
You listen properly to the answers.
You're commercially minded.
You're organised enough to manage multiple opportunities without things falling through the cracks.
And ideally, you understand the Early Years sector and can quickly build credibility with nursery owners and leaders.
THE EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You'll ideally have proven experience in sales, business development, account management or customer success.
Experience in consultative or solution-based selling would be particularly valuable.
You'll be confident communicating by telephone and video call and comfortable building relationships quickly.
You'll need to be comfortable working with CRM systems and using technology to manage your pipeline and customer journey.
Experience with GoHighLevel/Automagical and WooCommerce would be useful, although we'll happily consider someone who learns systems quickly. These are also reflected in the formal person specification.
Experience or knowledge of the Early Years sector would be a significant advantage.
But above everything else, we're looking for somebody with the mindset of a closer.
REASONS WHY WE'RE AN AMAZING PLACE TO WORK
1. Your leads are being generated for you
You'll have Marketing generating demand and a dedicated Lead Appointment Setter working to turn that demand into booked appointments.
Your focus is conversion.
2. Your earning potential isn't capped
You'll receive a competitive basic salary alongside sales commission based on targets with no upper limit.
Perform brilliantly and you'll be rewarded for it.
3. You're selling something that genuinely helps people
You're not selling widgets.
You're helping nursery owners solve real problems affecting their businesses, teams and ultimately the children they care for.
4. We actually do what we teach
We are active nursery operators.
You'll be selling knowledge, systems and solutions based on real experience.
5. You'll have a visible impact
When you win business, you'll see it.
This isn't a giant corporation where your results disappear inside somebody else's spreadsheet.
You'll be helping drive MBK's growth.
6. You can help build something
We're strengthening our commercial operation now.
There will be opportunities to improve our sales systems, conversion processes, client journey and approach as we grow.
7. We're ambitious
We aren't interested in staying the same size because it's comfortable.
We want MBK to become one of the leading Early Years support businesses in the UK.
And we need great salespeople to get us there.
