The Role
Working closely with the packing area leader and overall shift manager, the Packing Operative will assist with the final stages of product handling, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards. This role is key to ensuring that all products are boxed, labelled, and palletised efficiently and correctly.
Job Purpose
To support the efficient movement, stacking, wrapping, and labelling of pallets containing finished goods. The role ensures that all pallets are prepared accurately and safely for storage or dispatch, in line with company procedures and hygiene standards.
Hours
3 on 3 off shifts rotating days and nights, 12 hour shifts (7 - 7), average 40.25 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately build and stack pallets with packaged goods according to product and dispatch requirements.
- Securely wrap pallets using manual or automated pallet wrapping equipment.
- Label boxes correctly using the labelling machine, ensuring accurate product and batch information.
- Safely move pallets using pallet trucks or other authorised handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in the palletising and dispatch areas.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and food safety regulations at all times.
- Promptly report any damaged or defective goods, packaging, or materials to the appropriate team leader or supervisor.
- Assist with packing and boxing tasks during periods when palletising is not required.
- Take part in scheduled weekly factory clean-downs as part of the wider team effort.
Required
- Previous experience working as a Packing Operative
- Good time management and ability to prioritise tasks
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexible and reliable with a team-oriented mindset
Desirable
- Experience in a food or manufacturing environment
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Basic understanding of English and Math’s
