Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Warehouse Operative. You will be responsible for efficiently receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming shipments, ensuring that all goods are accurately stored and documented. Once goods are booked in, you would be responsible for picking and packing the order to help maintain a smooth warehouse process. This position offers varied work from computer, mechanical skills for basic valve assembly when required, packing, forklift and van driving for local deliveries. Experience will be valued as well as developed.
Hours of work are 0830-1600hrs Mon-Thurs and 0830-1430hrs Fri.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments, carefully unloading goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies, verifying against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Accurately record all goods received into the warehouse system , ensuring inventory updates
- Organise and store materials efficiently, adhering to safety standards and storage protocols
- Load and unload materials for outbound shipments, accurately preparing items for dispatch
- Operate forklifts safely to move heavy or bulky items within the warehouse environment
- Picking parts for orders with accuracy and packing
- Occasion very basic valve assembly.
- Local deliveries with our van
- Monitoring and progressing orders / liaising with suppliers
Requirements
- Proven warehouse experience with a strong understanding of materials handling procedures
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating forklift machinery safely
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems, we use SAGE computer software
- Mechanical knowledge and experience is advantageous, but not essential
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Prior experience in receiving operations, including load & unload activities
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail and safety compliance
- Full driving license
- Good communication skills
