Make a real difference to a young person's life
We are looking for a kind, reliable and enthusiastic Children's Support Worker to join a friendly team supporting a 17-year-old young woman with complex needs. You will have a genuine interest in supporting young people, be a good communicator, enjoy working as part of a team and be willing to learn. Working as part of a dedicated 2:1 team, you will support her with daily living skills, therapy programmes, family activities, days out and occasional holidays, whilst helping her work towards personal goals and achievements. The role includes personal care, mobility support, medication support and supported walking programmes, all aimed at helping her continue to build confidence, develop independence and enjoy the best possible quality of life. A driving licence and experience of child development would be advantageous but are not essential.
Full training, supervision and ongoing support are provided. No previous experience of complex care, hoists, wheelchairs or acquired brain injury is required. We are looking for the right person and will provide the training and support needed to help you succeed in the role.
Due to the personal care requirements of this role, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the successful applicant to be female.
The Team
You will be joining a small, welcoming team supported by an experienced Case Manager, therapists and a dedicated Team Leader.
Our Team Leader originally joined the family as a Support Worker and progressed into her current leadership role. She understands the role first-hand and provides practical support, guidance and encouragement to the wider team.

Hours Available
Approximately 20.75 hours per week
- Alternate weekends (09:00-20:00)
- Three weekday shifts (13:30-20:00)
- Worked across a two-week rota
Additional hours may be available during school holidays and to cover annual leave and sickness.

Recruitment Process
As this is a small team supporting one young person, reliability, communication and commitment are important from the very beginning.
Successful applicants will be invited to an interview followed by a meet-and-greet with the young person, her family and members of the support team.
We are looking for candidates who can communicate clearly, respond to messages promptly and attend agreed interviews and meetings as these are the qualities we require for the role itself.
