Field Service Engineer / Workshop Technician
Location: Field-based with a minimum of 2 days per week in the workshop (Gateshead)
About the Role
We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Field Service Engineer / Workshop Technician to join our team. This is a varied role combining on-site customer visits with workshop-based responsibilities, where you'll be responsible for servicing, calibrating, repairing and commissioning weighing equipment across the Labserve portfolio.
You'll play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service, ensuring equipment is safe, accurate and operating to the highest standards. If you enjoy problem-solving, working independently, and being part of a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, calibrate, commission and repair weighing equipment.
- Complete accurate calibration certificates and service documentation.
- Carry out equipment testing and safety checks in line with company policies and industry standards.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise customer downtime.
- Deliver excellent customer service during site visits and provide aftercare support.
- Build positive relationships with customers and act as a professional representative of the business.
- Carry out site risk assessments and follow all site-specific health and safety procedures.
- Wear the appropriate PPE provided and maintain safe working practices at all times.
- Identify opportunities to promote additional products and services where appropriate.
- Manage your workload effectively, working independently while collaborating with colleagues and the Service Team.
- Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets, workbooks and calibration certificates, accurately and on time.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuous professional development (CPD).
- Provide equipment training to customers, ensuring safe and correct operation.
Workshop & Warehouse Responsibilities
- Process incoming deliveries.
- Prepare and package equipment for dispatch.
- Pick parts and components from stock.
- Carry out equipment repairs within the workshop.
- Support monthly stock takes.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop and warehouse.
- Assist with general workshop activities as required.

- Willing to travel to customer sites as required.
- Comfortable undertaking manual handling tasks, including lifting equipment when required (full training will be provided).
