Job Purpose
The Logistics Operative is responsible for supporting the effective and efficient
movement, storage, collection, and delivery of goods and materials. The role combines
warehouse, logistics, driving, and customer service responsibilities to ensure that
products are handled safely, delivered on time, and that customers receive a professional
and positive service experience. The Logistics Operative will contribute to maintaining
high operational standards while promoting the organisation's reputation through
positive customer interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Van Driving and Delivery/Collection Duties
- Drive company vehicles to carry out deliveries, collections, and transportation of goods.
- Plan and follow delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely service.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any faults, damage, or maintenance
requirements.
- Ensure compliance with road traffic legislation and company vehicle policies.
- Obtain signatures, proof of delivery, and other required documentation.
- Safely transport goods while ensuring their security and condition throughout
transit.
Logistics and Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, and process goods.
- Pick, pack, prepare, and dispatch orders accurately and efficiently.
- Load and unload vehicles safely, ensuring goods are secured appropriately for
transportation.
- Store stock in designated locations and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Assist with stock control, stock counts, and inventory management activities.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Complete all relevant documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support general warehouse and logistics operations as required.
Customer Service and Communication
- Provide a professional, courteous, and helpful service when interacting with customers, suppliers, contractors, and colleagues.
- Act as a positive representative of the organisation during deliveries, collections, and site visits.
- Respond appropriately to customer enquiries and relay information to relevant departments when necessary.
- Assist in resolving delivery issues or customer concerns in a calm and professional manner.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, suppliers and external contacts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding delivery schedules, operational issues, and customer feedback.7
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Follow safe manual handling practices and use equipment appropriately.
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and organisational requirements.
- Comply with any other reasonable request
Pay: Up to £15.22 per hour
