Kennings Building Supplies Ltd are looking to hire a Senior Bookkeeper work at their busy head office at Hook Road, Goole.
The Role:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within an accounts role in a senior position, they must be able to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, demonstrate attention to detail and have a passionate approach to work. Alongside having the ability to communicate effectively and build a good working relationships. We need someone who is confident in their role and can lead their own projects.
Responsibilities include:
-End-to-End Bookkeeping: Process all financial transactions daily, including bank reconciliations, expense tracking, and credit card management.
Ledger Ownership: Maintain absolute accuracy across the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and General Ledger.
VAT & Compliance: Prepare, reconcile, and submit quarterly VAT returns & end of year submissions along side the Accounts Manager.
Trial Balance Preparation: Bring the accounts up to Trial Balance stage and prepare clean, accurate month-end files for review by our external accountants.
Financial Reporting: Provide the business owner with regular updates on cash flow and fundamental profit/loss figures
Marketplace Expansion: Confidently lead the financial setup and onboarding for new marketplace platforms (e.g., Temu, TikTok Shop). You will ensure accurate revenue recognition, handle complex platform payouts, and map out compliant VAT/tax structures for new sales channels.
System Integration Lead: Act as the finance lead on new software integrations. You will confidently oversee the transition from our current systems, ensure seamless data flow between operations and the core accounting software, and troubleshoot ledger syncing to maintain data integrity.
Who are we looking for: What We Are Looking For
Experience: 5+ years of dedicated bookkeeping experience, ideally within a standalone role or a busy SME environment.
Excel Skills: Solid competency in MS Excel (lookup formulas, formatting, and data manipulation).
Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, trustworthy, and comfortable & confident working with minimal day-to-day supervision.
The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the existing account team, cover for holidays and sickness when required and offer support to all team members during the busy periods.
This job role is Part Time, working hours are flexible and can be discussed at point of interview.
*Salary shall be dependent on Experience/Qualifications. Hourly rate of pay range £14.00 - £17.00
