Step up into leadership at a warm, well-established nursery
Millie's House Nursery & Pre-School at Woodlands Avenue is looking for a Third in Charge to join our leadership team and help lead an 84-place setting caring for children from 3 months to 5 years. This role is based in our 2.5 to 3.5 year room.
Our nursery sits in the heart of the New Malden community, spread across three bright floors with four age-appropriate rooms and a lovely secure walled garden for our pre-schoolers. We even have two much-loved nursery guinea pigs. With excellent transport links close by, including New Malden and Norbiton stations and local bus routes, it is an easy setting to get to.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced early years practitioner who is ready to take the next step into management, working closely alongside our Nursery Manager and Deputy.
The role
As Third in Charge you will be based in our 2.5 to 3.5 year room, leading practice and key group work there while supporting the day-to-day running of the whole nursery and stepping up to support the management team whenever needed. You will:
- Lead the 2.5 to 3.5 year room day to day, setting the standard for practice, routines and the learning environment.
- Support the Manager and Deputy in leading the setting, and take charge in their absence.
- Lead by example on the floor, role-modelling outstanding practice and care.
- Help ensure the EYFS is delivered to a high standard across all rooms.
- Support safeguarding as part of the senior team, always putting children's welfare first.
- Mentor, guide and support practitioners, both in your own room and across the nursery.
- Help manage ratios, routines and the smooth running of the day.
- Build warm, trusting relationships with children and their families.
What we're looking for
- A full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification as a minimum.
- Solid experience as an early years practitioner, ideally including senior, room leader or supervisory responsibility.
- Confidence working with children aged 2.5 to 3.5, and a good understanding of how to support them as they move towards pre-school.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding.
- A confident, warm leader who can motivate a team and set the standard.
- Someone ready to step up, take responsibility and grow into a senior leadership role.
Safeguarding training and Paediatric First Aid are welcome, and we will support the right person to develop these.
What we offer
- A salary of £33,000 per year.
- A clear route to develop your leadership career within a supportive group.
- A warm, well-established setting with a lovely team and a beautiful garden.
- Real investment in your training and progression.
- 95% childcare discount
