Cancer Awareness Project Coordinator
Location: West London
Hours: 28 hours a week
Salary: £25,000 per annum
Job Description:
To oversee the delivery of a project aiming to reduce cancer-related health inequalities for refugees, migrants and other marginalised communities in five West London boroughs. The project has the following core themes: improving cultural responsiveness in cancer care, promoting shared decision-making and supporting dementia-friendly approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee biweekly community workshops meant to raise awareness of cancer, treatment pathways and advocacy
- Organise training sessions for healthcare professionals to improve cultural competence and sensitivity in relation to cancer care for migrant populations
- Supervise a team of Workshop Facilitators and mentors
- Develop educational materials and storytelling resources about cancer awareness and the experiences of survivors, as part of both digital and physical distribution
- Coordinating all Monitoring and Evaluation for the project, collecting qualitative feedback and quantitative data in adherence with the KPIs
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- Previous experience in community healthcare initiatives
- Previous experience overseeing a project
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly refugees and asylum seekers
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisational analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and flexibly
- Ability to travel regularly among the delivery venues in West London
Desirable:
- Previous experience in relation to cancer care and awareness
- Knowledge of another language, especially Farsi, Pashto, Arabic or Ukrainian
