Primrose House: Our lovely home in Westward Ho is looking for a Domestic staff member for 18 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices, and corridors to a high standard.
- Infection prevention and control: Following infection control procedures, using the correct cleaning products, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and helping to reduce the spread of infections.
- Laundry duties: Washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing residents’ clothing, bedding, and towels while ensuring items are correctly labelled and handled hygienically.
- Waste management: Safely disposing of general, clinical, and recyclable waste according to the care home’s policies and health and safety regulations.
- Maintaining hygiene standards: Ensuring cleaning equipment is clean, stored safely, and used correctly, and reporting any shortages of cleaning supplies.
- Health and safety: Identifying and reporting hazards such as spillages, damaged equipment, or maintenance issues, and following safe working practices.
- Supporting residents’ wellbeing: Being respectful, friendly, and maintaining residents’ privacy and dignity while working in their personal spaces.
- Communication: Reporting concerns about residents’ wellbeing, cleanliness, or maintenance issues to the appropriate staff members.
- Following policies and procedures: Adhering to the care home’s policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and diversity, manual handling, and fire safety.
- Teamwork: Working collaboratively with care staff, kitchen staff, maintenance teams, and management to ensure the home provides a safe and welcoming environment.
Person Specification – Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Good communication skills with a professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents
- Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine interest in improving the lives of older or vulnerable people
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and carry out manual handling and cleaning tasks
- A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to changing needs
Rate of pay: £13.17 - £13.42 per hour.
