How you'll make a difference:
As a Care Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring vulnerable residents living in our care home are comfortable, safe, and well cared for. You will support residents to maintain their independence while providing physical, social, and emotional care that enhances their wellbeing and quality of life.
Alexandra Way Care Home is owned and operated by South Gloucestershire Council and accommodates up to 43 residents. The home provides accommodation and personal care for older people who have been assessed as requiring residential care.
What you will be doing:
By supporting and assisting residents with their personal care needs, you will play an important role in helping them maintain their independence and wellbeing. Working in line with individual care plans, you will also provide support with meal times, medication, and changing care requirements.
Using your skills, knowledge and experience, you will support residents to maintain and develop their personal skills and independence. You will also use a caring and creative approach to deliver a range of activities that promote wellbeing and social engagement.

It will be your responsibility to maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily notes and care plans. You will also assist with updating care plans and ensuring any changes are implemented effectively.
What we need from you:
We require you to hold a QCF level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or be willing to work towards and achieve a relevant qualification if you do not already hold one.
You will have an understanding of the range of professionals involved in residents' care, including GPs, nursing services, and emergency services, and be able to work effectively with them to support residents' needs.
Due to the nature of this role, you will demonstrate empathy, patience and resilience, enabling you to support residents who may display challenging behaviour.

It is key you have demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
You will have knowledge of specialist equipment and an understanding of safe manual handling techniques to support residents effectively and safely.
