Overview
Seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic, qualified Youth Development Worker. Exciting and challenging role with the opportunity to shape youth provision in a supportive environment, working on your own initiative to meet the diverse needs of young people in Crumpsall and the surrounding area in North Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Help enable delivery of a curriculum that enables young people to build friendships and develop their skills, health and a strong social identity, both as individuals and groups.
- Develop opportunities to learn life skills; respond to needs in preparing for adult & working life; and help maximise preventative mental health provision for young people.
- Help enable delivery, with colleagues, volunteers and young leaders, a full and balanced curriculum operating from The Base, relevant to the aims of Rainbow Surprise.
- Support activities, projects, outings and events, delivering informal, social education for young people in Crumpsall.
- Provide opportunities for informal learning of life skills and respond to their needs in preparing for adult and working life.
- Help maximise preventative mental health provision for young people.
- Ensure that programme at Crumpsall Park Youth Centre includes Complementary Education provision, a Youth Café, Young Enterprise, Duke of Edinburgh and Adventure Service Challenge Scheme Awards, in partnership where appropriate, to meet identified needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full or part-time qualification (Level 3 or above) in Youth Work or a related subject.
- At least two years’ experience working with young people in a Youth & Community Work setting.
- Experience of planning and managing workload / diary and monitoring and evaluating progress.
